The one and only RuPaul took last night’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony like a storm when he won his first Emmy ever for the incredible job he does as a host on Logo’s hit reality-show “RuPaul’s Drag Race”.
Category was: OUTSTANDING HOST OF A VARIETY, NONFICTION OR REALITY PROGRAM.
Mother Ru won over fellow nominees, Ryan Seacrest, Tom Begeron, Steve Harvey, Heidi Klum and Jane Lynch. All representing big television shows, some previous winners even, but no one could have beaten the legendary RuPaul!!!
“RuPaul’s Drag Race” was created by RuPaul and since its first season the show went on to become a worldwide phenomenon, launching the careers of many contestants, cementing Ru’s legacy in gay/pop culture, educating people, raising awareness for the realities faced by the community and so much more.
It was about time that RuPaul’s creation and its impact on the reality television sphere got the recognition it deserves.
Back in July when his nomination was announced, Ru released the following statement: “I DEDICATE THIS NOMINATION TO OUTSIDERS EVERYWHERE. BRAVE SOULS WHO, AGAINST ALL ODDS, STICK TO THEIR DREAMS AND MAKE THE WORLD A MORE COLOURFUL PLACE. ON BEHALF OF THOSE PEOPLE – MY TRIBE – I AM SO GRATEFUL.”
RuPaul looked FABULOUS DAHLING last night in a pink suit covered with white dots all over and when his name was announced as the winner he took the stage with poise, charisma, uniqueness and talent.
Accompanying momma Ru last night was his sidekick and best friend Michelle Visage and designer Zaldy, the genius behind the dress worn by RuPaul on the main stage of “Drag Race” season’s eight episode one that marked the 100th episode of the show.
The internet is on fire since the news broke with fans and disciples condragulating the legendary queen and celebrating this amazing achievement.
After he won, RuPaul said: “I REALLY DIDN’T EXPECTED THIS. I CAME HERE THINKING I GOT INVITED TO THE PROM AND I’M GOING TO DANCE MY ASS OFF TONIGHT, BUT I DIDN’T EXPECTED THAT I WOULD HAVE THIS IN MY HAND WHILE I WAS DANCING. IT’S A VERY SPECIAL NIGHT NOT JUST FOR ME BUT FOR ALL THE YOUNG PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD WHO DANCE TO THE BEAT OF A DIFFERENT DRUMMER.”
We couldn’t be happier for Ru and for Logo, who believed in him and still supports the amazing show that is “RuPaul’s Drag Race”.
The show current season is the second instalment of the “All Stars” spin-off and it’s been confirmed that Logo renewed the show for season nine.
